New hair-do

Went to see my french hairdresser Rene last Thursday. Was very afraid that I was going to get "a bob" as he is prone to give me. It isn't that I don't like the "bob" I have just had it for one haircut too many over the last several years. He really does try to give me what I want, and I do really love the cuts he gives, including "the bob." But my hair is getting "longer" for me and I was kind of liking it. Yet the bangs and front part were really driving me crazy. He suggested that we keep the length and shape up the top. No highlights needed this visit. I was quite pleased at the end of my visit. My hair looked fresh and fun.

However on the drive home I suddenly became quite concerned that I had agreed to a mullet willingly. I had to do grocery shopping and I couldn't help but smile because I had a mullet.

I have since been reassured that it is not a mullet. But I would have walked around for the next 5 weeks with a mullet willingly, because I had said yes to my hair dresser.

I have decided that he really is the best though. Cause I was feeling stressed about some work stuff, and just like a good hairdresser should he talked me out of my stress. Oh Rene, you really are the best.

new sites

Found these two new sites. They look so cool.

http://www.jcarolinecreative.com

http://www.etsy.com/index.php

Both crafty but in really unique ways. I am surprised that I have never heard of/or seen the second one before. By the way, the first site led me to the second site.

necklace

I have had this tree charm for a while, I had to have it!! But hadn't done anything with it yet. Decided that I needed to use my beads for a birthday gift and made this necklace. I used copper where I could and black beads in between, although it is difficult to tell in these photos.

scalloped cards

Can't seem to get enough of these 6x12 scalloped sheets of Bazzill. I keep making all my recent cards with them.
The tags are from Michaels, and are the new Martha Stewart line of crafting items.

Soot Spots

This morning I was sitting in my living room having just gotten up. Sitting on the couch, trying to figure out what I was going to do for the few hours that are mine before going to my night shift tonight. I have a fireplace in here with a glass bi-fold doors that I keep closed. I could hear them rattling so I looked at them and suddenly something started to come through them. So I screamed! I thought it was a rodent of some sort, hence the scream. It instead took flight at the sound of my screams, which made me scream more. I finally realized it was a small soot covered duck in my living room, flapping for dear life, with no where to go. I finally calmed down and the duck settle down under a stool hiding, and no doubt recovering from it's own fright. I opened the sliding glass doors to the gorgeous day outside, but the duck was staying put, lest it's ears get accosted again by my screams. So I called upstairs to the landlord. (Since it was staying put and I don't want a duck roommate.) She said she would send him around with a broom. It seemed like forever, but he and his son arrived within minutes with a sheet and broom. I could hear the duck from under my desk, so that's where they located the duck. Scared it from it's hiding spot and out it flew through the open sliding door. Now, looking around I have about 5 soot covered spots on the walls from where the poor duck hit the walls trying to get away from me. I hope the duck can find a quiet spot to wash and recover today. I hope that no more creatures come visit me through the chimney. I hope that I can get that soot off my white walls!!

Flood Watch

The past few weeks in the papers and at work there has been talk about flooding in the Fraser Valley. There is talk about diverting traffic, emergency care, and people if the rivers would flood. I hadn't paid much attention to it until I saw the signs for a closed road on my street. I happen to be right by a river. It was a nuisance last year with the fishing, but otherwise I forget that I am by a river. The past two days though the road by my house has been closed to all traffic except local traffic. There were large digging machines on it both days. I finally asked the landlord tonight, he says they are raising the road by 2 feet in hopes of diverting the river. He said that we are 5 feet higher than other parts of the valley, and that we shouldn't have much to worry about. However, that I should have a back up place to go to in case.... Not only am I concerned, now I am thinking of what I need to do to get ready. What is critical and what can I leave behind? My beloved stamps are of up most concern, as well as my stash of paper!! I may be seeking refugee homes for them to go to. Let me know what you think. Any suggestions? And where can I get flood insurance???
